Detailed Description

The first in a series of limited-edition bottles, Yeast Hoist features an original screenprinted design by famed “indie” cartoonist Ron Regé, Jr. These distinctive earthenware crock-style bottles were screenprinted in Belgium, and are filled with St. Sebastiaan Golden Ale, a delicious and drinkable top-fermented Belgian Abbey Style Ale, from Brouwerij Sterkens. Around the neck hangs the latest in Ron’s series of mini-comics: “Kept in Balance by Equal Weights” – available exclusively with this product. Inspired by mysticism and alchemy, this offset-printed, saddle-stitched “zine” playfully explores concepts of the cosmos – something to contemplate while enjoying a fine brew! While many import and craft brews feature artful design and packaging concepts, the Yeast Hoist crock literally elevates packaging to an art form, where the vessel itself a piece of contemporary craft, essential to the enjoyment of the beverage therein. Yeast Hoist is the name of Ron’s sporadically published series of mini-comics, as well as an expression: to raise a bottle of brew, and drink it! ABOUT THE ARTIST Ron Regé is an internationally renowned American cartoonist and illustrator who first garnered attention for his self-published, small-edition comic “zines” in the 1990s. His unique vision and style have become familiar to a generation of readers, as his illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, McSweeney’s, and Canada’s National Post, and in marketing campaigns for Nike, Sony, Tylenol, and HP. His books Skibber Bee~Bye and Against Pain (both published by Drawn & Quarterly) are classics of the Alternative Comics genre. 7.6%abv.
